We are Melinda Iglesias Wheeler and Stephen Higgins. We came together around the shared belief that solid, caring relationships are the cornerstone of good healthcare—that, indeed, the very most important aspect of health and healing is a strong therapeutic alliance between patient and practitioner.
We maintain a strong bond and our students, patients, and clients can feel it. We are truly delighted to have you!
Melinda Iglesias Wheeler
Care is personal, and must be specific and tailored to each individual. Classical Chinese medicine is an entire system of healthcare that engages and invites patients to be more active participants in their health and well-being. In caring for my patients, I utilize Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis, abdominal palpation, and other precise diagnostic techniques. I practice classical acupuncture and herbalism as well as cranialsacral and myofascial release.
Melinda holds Doctorate of Science in Oriental Medicine (DSOM) degree from the National College of Natural Medicine and is also an assistant instructor of Contemporary Chinese Pulse Diagnosis. During her time in school she studied under Brandt Stickley, L.Ac, immersing herself in the Shen-Hammer lineage. She is currently studying classical herbalism from Dr. Joon Hee-Lee based in the tradition of Zhang Zhong-Jing’s Shang Han Za Bing Lun (Treaties on Cold Damage and Miscellaneous Disease). She is also a student of Classical Acupuncture as taught by Ann Cecil-Sterman. Melinda is certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).
I am a Licensed Acupuncturist, Chinese herbalist, and Mindfulness Counselor, and I practice medicine and client care that lives at the cusp of Chinese medicine and mental health. In caring for my patients and clients, I utilize Shen-Hammer Pulse Diagnosis, acupuncture methods, herbal medicine, bodywork, and mindfulness-based somatic processing.
Stephen holds a Master’s of Science in Oriental Medicine (MSOM) degree from the National College of Natural Medicine. He has also completed Post-Baccalaureate study in Chinese Language and Literature at Portland State University, a short-term Chinese Language program through National Taiwan Normal University, and a two-year Comprehensive Training in Mindfulness-Based Somatic Psychotherapy methods through the META Institute/Hakomi Institute of Oregon, where he also continued his studies as a teaching assistant for two additional years.
