“So How Does Remote Acupuncture Work, Anyway...?”

Many of you that follow us on Instagram @dragonrises already benefit from our remote acupuncture treatments, so it’s lovely to get a moment to talk through something you already have experienced! Nonetheless, we piqued a lot of interest and garnered questions about remote acupuncture when we posted about it on social media recently, so we thought we’d share some thoughts with you here.

For those of you that haven’t experienced a remote acupuncture treatment firsthand, we hope you enjoy learning a bit more about it today! In order to describe how remote acupuncture works, let’s first talk about how in-person acupuncture works.

The channels are always with us—  it just takes the activation of intention for the treatment to begin.

So… How does it work?!

Here’s a “quick and dirty” lesson. The channels are an integral part of our body’s anatomy. In fact, each channel has a physiological function that helps us go about our daily activities–and they help us right from the beginning of our corporeal lives: from learning to lift our heads up as little babies, to walking on our own for the first time, to helping us age gracefully. The channels also help us sense the energies around us, and they support us in finding meaning in our life experiences. They are there, on their own, living life (through us)!

Remote acupuncture actually works very similarly to in-person acupuncture. During an in-person acupuncture session we perform the following to treat your channels: we use needles and bodywork to move the qi, which is nothing more than an invitation for the body’s inherent and limitless potential to be activated and opened. This happens as we needle each point, allowing a channel to move more freely, and this effect is achieved through the practitioner's intention as well as the needling itself. In fact, the practitioner holds a specific intention while each needle is inserted, and when they step away from the table, the needle continues that intention-holding job for us, as a conduit.

In remote sessions we do nearly the exact same thing: we talk through the intake, discuss the treatment, go through acupuncture points together. And we find that, just as in needling, as we activate the channels remotely, the entire channel opens up right away! This can also happen in the room during an intake, as well.

In remote acupuncture, even with distances between us—across town or across the continent—the channels move, they open, pain is released, and people attain very deep mind-body states. The channels are always with us—  it just takes the activation of intention for the treatment to begin.

I know, you’re thinking  “so you’re telling me acupuncture can  really and truly be done without needles?!” Well, I’m here to tell you that the answer is most certainly yes, and there are many of us (myself included) who love the ritual and feeling of activating the channels remotely and having the qi in our channels moved that way! It’s true: I’ve not had one remote acupuncture client walk away a non-believer.

Any questions? Let us know!

In intention,

Melinda
